This quad-ring is supplied in AS568-142 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A square profile with an inside diameter of 2.362 in (59.99 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.568 in (65.23 mm), catalogued under part number SV70142. It delivers lower friction and better sealing stability than a comparable round-section o-ring.

The compound resists many acids, petroleum oils and fuels, and aggressive chemicals. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) offers the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving amines or ketones and esters call for a different compound.
