The o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

Silicone offers physiological inertness and low toxicity, an exceptionally wide service temperature range. The compound resists ozone and UV exposure, dry heat, and extreme heat and cold. The material carries a published service range of -80°F (-62.2°C) to 450°F (232.2°C). It should not be specified for service in abrasive dynamic service or hydrocarbon fuels and oils.
