It compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

Polyurethane (AU/EU) is known for exceptional abrasion resistance, very high tensile strength and load capacity. The material holds up against impact and shock loading, petroleum oils, and extrusion under high pressure. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 200°F (93.3°C). It should not be specified for service in acids and bases or prolonged humidity at elevated temperature.
