An o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

Polyurethane (AU/EU) delivers outstanding extrusion resistance at elevated pressure and long wear life in dynamic reciprocating service. This material stands up to ozone, petroleum oils, and abrasion and wear. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 200°F (93.3°C). Applications involving prolonged humidity at elevated temperature or hot water and steam call for a different compound.

It sees regular use in off-highway equipment, hydraulic cylinders, and construction machinery.
