A quad-ring resists spiral failure in reciprocating service thanks to its multi-lobe geometry.

The material holds up against petroleum oils and fuels, aromatic hydrocarbons, and chlorinated solvents. Viton® (FKM) is known for very low compression set at elevated temperature, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to ketones and esters or amines will shorten service life.
