An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

It resists petroleum oils and fuels, engine and transmission fluids, and chlorinated solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) offers long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and outstanding high-temperature capability. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where amines or hot water and steam are present.
