An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

This material stands up to water and steam, brake fluid, and ozone, UV and weathering. EPDM (EPR) is known for very good flexibility at low temperature, excellent hot water and steam resistance. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 300°F (148.9°C). Exposure to aromatic hydrocarbons or petroleum oils and fuels will shorten service life.
