An o-ring remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified here for strong abrasion and tear resistance, low compression set under sustained load. Expect good resistance to greases and lubricants, petroleum-based oils, and propane and butane. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Exposure to strong acids or polar solvents will shorten service life.
