As a material, Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, very low compression set at elevated temperature. The material holds up against aromatic hydrocarbons, aggressive chemicals, and many acids. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. Exposure to ketones and esters or low-molecular-weight organic acids will shorten service life.
