As a material, Viton® (FKM) delivers excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. The material holds up against aromatic hydrocarbons, engine and transmission fluids, and chlorinated solvents. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to hot water and steam or low-molecular-weight organic acids will shorten service life.
