An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile) offers the oil resistance of nitrile with substantially better heat capability and strong resistance to rapid gas decompression. It resists petroleum oils and fuels, ozone and weathering, and heat and oxidation. Rated temperature range runs from -40°F (-40°C) to 325°F (162.8°C) in continuous service. Exposure to chlorinated hydrocarbons or ketones will shorten service life.

It sees regular use in commercial refrigeration, engine timing systems, and heavy-duty powertrain.
