The o-ring remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

As a material, Neoprene (Chloroprene) is known for good resilience across a moderate temperature band and inherent flame-retarding characteristics. It resists sunlight and salt spray, moderate petroleum oil exposure, and ozone and weathering. Rated temperature range runs from -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C) in continuous service.

It sees regular use in weather sealing and enclosures, HVAC and refrigeration, and marine equipment.
