It creates a positive seal at flange, piston and rod interfaces without added hardware.

Expect good resistance to solvents, strong acids and bases, and oxidizing media. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is known for a very wide continuous service temperature range and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics.
