APG stocks the TFE413, an AS568-413 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D O-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 2.975 in (75.57 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.525 in (89.54 mm). An o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.
The compound resists oxidizing media, steam, and solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is specified for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and a very wide continuous service temperature range. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals are present.
Typical settings include pharmaceutical and biotech, aggressive-media pipelines, and food and beverage.
Reference part number TFE413 when ordering; the item is sold individually. Nominal inside diameter is listed as 3 inch. Review your operating media and conditions against this specification before installation. For a size or compound outside the standard catalog, APG can quote from a print or sample.
