568-419 PTFE ORINGS FDA

This o-ring is supplied in AS568-419 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 3.725 in (94.62 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.275 in (108.59 mm), catalogued under part number TFE419. It seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

The compound resists steam, solvents, and strong acids and bases. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) delivers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and a very wide continuous service temperature range. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature will shorten service life.
