This o-ring is supplied in AS568-449 brown Viton® (FKM) 90 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 9.975 in (253.37 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 10.525 in (267.34 mm), catalogued under part number VB90449. It compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

The material holds up against many acids, engine and transmission fluids, and petroleum oils and fuels. Viton® (FKM) offers long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving ketones and esters or amines call for a different compound.
