568-901 PTFE ORINGS FDA

This o-ring is supplied in AS568-901 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 0.185 in (4.7 mm), a cross section of 0.056 in (1.42 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.297 in (7.54 mm), catalogued under part number TFE901. It seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for excellent dielectric properties and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. This material stands up to nearly all industrial chemicals, steam, and strong acids and bases. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals are present.
