8-041 BLACK FKM 90D BACK-UP RING

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-041 black Viton® (FKM) 90 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 2.989 in (75.92 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.129 in (79.48 mm), catalogued under part number VBU90041. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and outstanding high-temperature capability. The material holds up against chlorinated solvents, aromatic hydrocarbons, and petroleum oils and fuels. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving ketones and esters or hot water and steam call for a different compound.

Typical settings include high-temperature process equipment, oil and gas, and aerospace.
