8-169 BLACK FKM 90D BACK-UP RING

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-169 black Viton® (FKM) 90 Shore A measuring an inside diameter of 7.487 in (190.17 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 7.693 in (195.4 mm), catalogued under part number VBU90169. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for very low compression set at elevated temperature and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. The material holds up against petroleum oils and fuels, aromatic hydrocarbons, and chlorinated solvents. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. Applications involving hot water and steam or amines call for a different compound.
