8-282 BLACK FKM 90D BACK-UP RING

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-282 black Viton® (FKM) 90 Shore A built to an inside diameter of 15.955 in (405.26 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 16.233 in (412.32 mm), catalogued under part number VBU90282. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

The material holds up against chlorinated solvents, aggressive chemicals, and engine and transmission fluids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) delivers very low compression set at elevated temperature and outstanding high-temperature capability. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where amines or hot water and steam are present.
