An o-ring remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

Aflas (TFE/P) is widely chosen for proven performance in aggressive downhole environments and high-temperature steam capability that most fluoroelastomers cannot match. Expect good resistance to amines and corrosion inhibitors, brake fluids and phosphate esters, and high-temperature steam. Service temperature is rated from -25°F (-31.7°C) through 450°F (232.2°C). It is not the right choice where low-temperature dynamic service or aromatic hydrocarbons are present.

It sees regular use in chemical processing, geothermal equipment, and downhole tooling.
