Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for reliable performance in both static and dynamic service, low compression set under sustained load. The compound resists greases and lubricants, propane and butane, and many alcohols. Published continuous service range is -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It is not the right choice where strong acids or polar solvents are present.

It sees regular use in automotive, agricultural equipment, and fluid power.
