The material holds up against mild acids, ozone and weathering, and refrigerants and ammonia. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Neoprene (Chloroprene) is widely chosen for dependable general-purpose sealing in exposed installations and inherent flame-retarding characteristics. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It is not the right choice where ketones or strong oxidizing acids are present.
