As a material, Neoprene (Chloroprene) offers good resilience across a moderate temperature band and strong performance in refrigeration circuits. The material holds up against ozone and weathering, sunlight and salt spray, and mild acids. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Applications involving aromatic hydrocarbons or strong oxidizing acids call for a different compound.
