An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

EPDM (EPR) delivers very good flexibility at low temperature, excellent hot water and steam resistance. The material holds up against phosphate ester hydraulic fluids, ketones, and dilute acids and alkalis. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 300°F (148.9°C). Applications involving mineral oil-based lubricants or aromatic hydrocarbons call for a different compound.

This o-ring meets FDA requirements for food contact, carries NSF listing, and is metal detectable for HACCP and foreign-body control programs. Typical settings include solar and roofing assemblies, potable water applications, and water and steam systems.
