As a material, EPDM (EPR) offers strong performance in outdoor and exposed installations, outstanding weather, ozone and sunlight resistance. Expect good resistance to brake fluid, ozone, UV and weathering, and dilute acids and alkalis. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 300°F (148.9°C). Applications involving aromatic hydrocarbons or mineral oil-based lubricants call for a different compound.

It sees regular use in potable water applications, brake and phosphate ester systems, and water and steam systems.
