An o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

Expect good resistance to ketones, water and steam, and phosphate ester hydraulic fluids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: EPDM (EPR) offers very good flexibility at low temperature, excellent hot water and steam resistance. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 300°F (148.9°C).
