APG stocks the E70178, an AS568-178 black EPDM (EPR) 70 Shore A O-Ring measuring an inside diameter of 9.737 in (247.32 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.943 in (252.55 mm). An o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.
The material holds up against ozone, UV and weathering, water and steam, and ketones. That behavior comes from the compound itself: EPDM (EPR) is specified for outstanding weather, ozone and sunlight resistance, good electrical insulating characteristics. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 300°F (148.9°C) in continuous service. It should not be specified for service in aromatic hydrocarbons or mineral oil-based lubricants.
It sees regular use in solar and roofing assemblies, water and steam systems, and brake and phosphate ester systems.
Stocked as E70178 and sold individually. Unit weight is approximately 4.9437 g and nominal inside diameter is listed as 9 3/4 inch. Check the compound against your process media, pressure and temperature before committing to a design. APG supports cross-referencing from drawings, samples and competitor numbers when a listed size is not an exact fit.
