An o-ring creates a positive seal at flange, piston and rod interfaces without added hardware.

EPDM (EPR) is specified for very good flexibility at low temperature, outstanding weather, ozone and sunlight resistance. Expect good resistance to brake fluid, ozone, UV and weathering, and dilute acids and alkalis. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 300°F (148.9°C). Applications involving petroleum oils and fuels or aromatic hydrocarbons call for a different compound.
