The o-ring remains the most cost-effective sealing element available for pressurized assemblies.

It resists water and steam, brake fluid, and dilute acids and alkalis. EPDM (EPR) is valued for very good flexibility at low temperature, outstanding weather, ozone and sunlight resistance. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 300°F (148.9°C) in continuous service. Exposure to mineral oil-based lubricants or aromatic hydrocarbons will shorten service life.
