Part number E80PC027 is an AS568-027 black EPDM (EPR) 80 Shore A O-Ring built to an inside diameter of 1.301 in (33.05 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.441 in (36.6 mm). An o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

EPDM (EPR) is specified here for good electrical insulating characteristics and very good flexibility at low temperature. The material holds up against water and steam, brake fluid, and phosphate ester hydraulic fluids. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 300°F (148.9°C). Applications involving petroleum oils and fuels or mineral oil-based lubricants call for a different compound.
