This o-ring is supplied in AS568-241 black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A with an inside diameter of 3.859 in (98.02 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.137 in (105.08 mm), catalogued under part number V70241. It compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for very low compression set at elevated temperature, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. The compound resists many acids, engine and transmission fluids, and aggressive chemicals. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving amines or ketones and esters call for a different compound.
