Viton® (FKM) is specified here for very low compression set at elevated temperature and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. The compound resists petroleum oils and fuels, engine and transmission fluids, and aggressive chemicals. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It should not be specified for service in low-molecular-weight organic acids or amines.

It sees regular use in high-temperature process equipment, aerospace, and oil and gas.
