The o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

Viton® (FKM) is valued for outstanding high-temperature capability, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. This material stands up to petroleum oils and fuels, aggressive chemicals, and chlorinated solvents. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where ketones and esters or amines are present.

Typical settings include chemical processing, oil and gas, and semiconductor equipment.
