An o-ring creates a positive seal at flange, piston and rod interfaces without added hardware.

The compound resists aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, and petroleum oils and fuels. Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for very low compression set at elevated temperature and the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C).

It sees regular use in semiconductor equipment, chemical processing, and oil and gas.
