As a material, Viton® (FKM) delivers long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. The material holds up against many acids, chlorinated solvents, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to amines or low-molecular-weight organic acids will shorten service life.

Typical settings include aerospace, chemical processing, and automotive fuel systems.
