An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

Viton® (FKM) is valued for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. Expect good resistance to engine and transmission fluids, petroleum oils and fuels, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving amines or low-molecular-weight organic acids call for a different compound.
