The V4X57 is a black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A O-Ring with an inside diameter of 57 mm (2.244 in), a cross section of 4 mm (0.157 in), and an outside diameter of 65 mm (2.56 in). This o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

The material holds up against aggressive chemicals, aromatic hydrocarbons, and petroleum oils and fuels. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) delivers excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving hot water and steam or ketones and esters call for a different compound.
