Ordered as V2.4X8.3, this is a black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A O-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 8.3 mm (0.327 in), a cross section of 2.4 mm (0.094 in), and an outside diameter of 13.1 mm (0.52 in). The o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

The compound resists petroleum oils and fuels, many acids, and aggressive chemicals. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) offers very low compression set at elevated temperature and the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to ketones and esters or hot water and steam will shorten service life.
