Viton® (FKM) is specified for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and outstanding high-temperature capability. The compound resists aromatic hydrocarbons, aggressive chemicals, and engine and transmission fluids. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It should not be specified for service in low-molecular-weight organic acids or hot water and steam.

Common environments for this compound include automotive fuel systems, aerospace, and high-temperature process equipment.
