APG stocks the FS70278, an AS568-278 blue Fluorosilicone (FVMQ) 70 Shore A O-Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 11.984 in (304.39 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 12.262 in (311.45 mm). An o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

Fluorosilicone (FVMQ) is specified here for good compression set resistance in static duty and very wide service temperature range. This material stands up to ozone and weathering, aromatic fuels and jet fuel, and extreme cold. Continuous operating temperature is published at -80°F (-62.2°C) to 350°F (176.7°C). Applications involving hydrazine or high-temperature dynamic service call for a different compound.

Typical settings include military ground vehicles, aerospace and defense, and high-altitude equipment.
