The o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

Fluorosilicone (FVMQ) delivers silicone's low-temperature flexibility combined with fuel resistance and a very wide service temperature range. It resists ozone and weathering, extreme cold, and aromatic fuels and jet fuel. Rated temperature range runs from -80°F (-62.2°C) to 350°F (176.7°C) in continuous service. Applications involving brake fluids or ketones call for a different compound.
