An o-ring creates a positive seal at flange, piston and rod interfaces without added hardware.

This material stands up to chlorinated solvents, aromatic fuels and jet fuel, and ozone and weathering. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Fluorosilicone (FVMQ) is specified for good compression set resistance in static duty and the standard choice for static aerospace fuel system seals. Service temperature is rated from -80°F (-62.2°C) through 350°F (176.7°C). Applications involving brake fluids or hydrazine call for a different compound.
