An o-ring seats in a machined groove and forms a leak-tight barrier when compressed between two mating surfaces.

The compound resists ozone and weathering, heat and oxidation, and petroleum oils and fuels. HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile) is valued for excellent abrasion and tear strength, improved ozone and weathering resistance over standard nitrile. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 325°F (162.8°C).
