In service, this o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

The compound resists modern refrigerants, sour gas and amine inhibitors, and heat and oxidation. HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile) is widely chosen for strong resistance to rapid gas decompression and the oil resistance of nitrile with substantially better heat capability. Published continuous service range is -40°F (-40°C) to 325°F (162.8°C). Verify compatibility before use with strong oxidizing acids or ketones.
