In service, this o-ring provides a reliable static or dynamic seal by deforming into its gland under assembly load.

HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile) is known for strong resistance to rapid gas decompression, long service life in refrigerant and oilfield duty. The compound resists sour gas and amine inhibitors, heat and oxidation, and modern refrigerants. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 325°F (162.8°C). Applications involving chlorinated hydrocarbons or ketones call for a different compound.
