Ordered as HQ4042, this is an AS568-042 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A quad profile Quad-Ring measuring an inside diameter of 3.239 in (82.27 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.379 in (85.83 mm). The quad-ring provides a dual sealing band on each contact face for improved reliability.

The material holds up against water, many alcohols, and petroleum-based oils. Buna-N (Nitrile) is known for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer and an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. Rated temperature range runs from -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where automotive brake fluid or ketones are present.
