An o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

Expect good resistance to petroleum oils and fuels, heat and oxidation, and modern refrigerants. HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile) is known for excellent abrasion and tear strength, long service life in refrigerant and oilfield duty. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 325°F (162.8°C). Exposure to strong oxidizing acids or esters will shorten service life.

It sees regular use in oilfield and downhole equipment, engine timing systems, and heavy-duty powertrain.
