An o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile) is specified here for oil resistance of nitrile with substantially better heat capability, excellent abrasion and tear strength. The material holds up against petroleum oils and fuels, ozone and weathering, and sour gas and amine inhibitors. The material carries a published service range of -40°F (-40°C) to 325°F (162.8°C).
