An o-ring compresses into its gland to block fluid or gas migration across a joint.

HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile) offers strong resistance to rapid gas decompression, long service life in refrigerant and oilfield duty. It resists modern refrigerants, heat and oxidation, and sour gas and amine inhibitors. Published continuous service range is -40°F (-40°C) to 325°F (162.8°C). It should not be specified for service in strong oxidizing acids or ketones.
